The purpose of counseling is to assist you in making simple yet a radical shift in your approach to managing and coping with stress, anxiety, and negative feelings and thoughts. With the support of counseling, you can begin to practice and step out of negative habits of thought and begin to pay attention to your thoughts and feelings with an on-purpose, mindful approach toward having more positive moment-to-moment thoughts, feelings, and body sensations.
The following is a list of additional supplements and resources that have been beneficial for my clients over the years. If you are taking any medications or have a pre-existing condition, check with your primary care physician before beginning a new routine or practice.
Mindfulness is a practice of being aware of yourself in the moment. Meditations can help you practice regulating your body. Choosing to engage in prayer/meditation practice 3-5 days a week has been proven to lower high blood pressure, cortisol levels, cholesterol, and overall symptoms associated with stress and tension.
These links are outside sources that offer a collection of meditations/guided practices recorded by professionals to assist you in building or enhancing your current routines and practices of self-care. Find a comfortable place, about 5-30 minutes daily, and some earphones.
